The rehabilitation of Glen Scotia continues, with this latest batch of the often-overlooked Campbeltown distillery's Glen Scotia 18-year-old, a small batch of American oak casks finished in first fill Oloroso sherry butts adding rich, spicy notes to the distillery's traditionally grassy, coastal profile.
How does it taste?
Nose: Honey, vanilla, rum and sea air
Palate: Citrus and dried fruit sweetness. salted dark chocolate.
Finish: Fruit and nut with a hint of ginger spice
Why did I choose this whisky?
Situated roughly between the Lowlands and Islay, Campbeltown whisky sits astride the two in flavour, often light like a lowland and briny like an Islay, this aromatic and spicy whisky is a real treat!
