Bowsaw Straight Corn 43% 25ml

Whisky

Whisky of the Week #23

Bowsaw Straight Corn American Whiskey 43%

This is an amazingly creamy straight corn whiskey produced with 91% corn, . The name is a nod to whiskey traditions, of using the cooper's saw to cut the heads of barrels. This whiskey really shines when paired with ginger ale and a lime slice, or used in a whisky Mac.

How does it taste?
Nose: Buttered popcorn, milk chocolate and a very fiend spicy note.
Palate: Sweet popcorn, Some more chocolate peanuts and maple syrup.
Finish: Another breath of spice, butter and those sponge fingers you get in trifle.

Why did I choose his whisky?
Grilled corn cobs, I love the caramelised corn flavour dripping in butter and that was the inspiration for this weeks whisky. My natural tendency for Kentucky is rye, as I find the peppery flavour of the rye helps balance the sweet vanilla hit that you get from the American oak barrels, and of course the ingredients. But It’s time we swung the taste pendulum the other way and this being a place to experiment let's have this Compass first.
