Oakham Ales started in 1993 in Oakham, in Rutland, moved to Peterborough in 1998 and has brewed at Woodston, on the south side of the city, since 2006.
They were among the first British brewers to work with American hops, and in 2009 their brewing director brought Citra back from a hop-sourcing trip to the United States and put it in a beer on its own, which nobody here had done before. Jeffrey Hudson Bitter took Supreme Champion at the Great British Beer Festival in 2001.
